Commenting on the announcement from Stornoway Port Authority that it was unable to consent to the partial infill of the Bayhead Estuary as part of the Stornoway Regeneration Plan, Comhairle Leader Angus Campbell said:

“The Comhairle is surprised and disappointed at the decision of Stornoway Port Authority. We are now seeking a meeting with the Authority Board Members as a matter of urgency to explain fully the proposals being suggested and the importance of this major project for Stornoway. There also seems to be some confusion about the legal issues surrounding the proposals which we would hope to clarify.  I would also hope that as partner agencies we can work together on the regeneration of Stornoway and its harbour area in the interests of all.”
