Alasdair Ferguson

Alasdair has Rudhach blood from head to toe, even if he has a geordie accent (well Sunderland accent really). Before joining Isles FM he had a career in telecommunications engineering that took him to many parts of the globe. Becoming a member of the Isles FM team in 2002 to help out with technical and engineering he soon became involved in programming

Starting on the Monday night album chart show then taking over Monday Dusig! From Kenny “there you go” and co-presenting Behind the Headlines on Friday with Iain X. Alasdair has also been a regular presenter on Rock & Ceilidh and Moonlight Shadow programme. He also started Saturday Night at the Movies, film being one of his passions.

In early 2009 Alasdair became Station Manager at Isles FM, charged with taking the station to the next level in broadcasting terms. It was the first time that Isles FM had a salaried Station Manager.

LIVES IN: Stornoway

ISLES FM PROGRAMMES NVOLVED IN: Interviews for various programmes

FAVOURITE MUSIC: Very broad range.

HOW AND WHY GOT INVOLVED WITH ISLES FM: When the BBC decided stop its Western Isles-only opt-out service and became a national station, a group of us met to plan the setting up of a community station.

PERSON I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A DESERT ISLAND WITH AND WHY: Myleene Klass because I hear she's good with her hands.

PHRASE THAT SUMS ME UP: Grumpy and lumpy.

WHAT WOULD I DO WITH A MILLION POUNDS: Disappear. No,seriously, I would give some to Isles FM - and then I would disappear.

THREE THINGS WE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME: I posed as an autograph hunter to get close to the late Luciano Pavarotti so I could serve a court summons on him for money he owed for a racehorse, my wife and I sponsor kids in Vietnam and in Bangladesh and I have no belly-button.

Phrase that sums you up: well.............best ask some one else that one, there is more than one phrase i am sure, but .........maybe..........."better late than never"

What would you do with a million pounds: Share it...........especially with the ones who choose the phrase that sums me up!!!  I would share any seriously large amounts of money that I would win, much more fun in doing that..........You can not take it with you..........so have fun with it.

Three things that we may not know about you: 1) I love Gugga 2) I am Half Peruvian 3) I was once a cinema Projectionist. Everyone will be amazed at the fact that I love Gugga!!
